The Hunger Games trilogy is a series of young adult dystopian novels written by American novelist Suzanne Collins. This series is also set in the Hunger Games universe and follows young Katniss Everdeen.
The trilingual novels are also named The Hunger Games (2008), Catching Fire (2009) and Mokinje (2010). All of the novels have evolved into films starring Jennifer Lawrence, and the adaptation of the Mokinje film is divided into two parts. First two books of this series were bestsellers in the New York Times, and since its release, Mokinje has topped the best-selling list in the United States. When the Hunger Games adaptation was released in 2012, the publisher had printed over 26 million Hunger Games trilogy books, including movie bindings.
The Hunger Games universe is a dystopia in Panem, a North American country with 13 districts of rich capital and various poverty. Each year, children from the first 12 districts are selected by lottery to participate in a mandatory televised War Royal Death contest.
All of the novels received a good response. In August 2012, the series came in second, surpassing only the Harry Potter series in the NPR’s Top 100 Teen Novel poll, urging voters to choose their favourite young adult books. Amazon announced the Hunger Games trilogy is a top seller and surpasses the previous record held by the Harry Potter series On August 17 / 2012. The has trilogy sold more than 65 million copies in the United States alone as of 2014. The Hunger Games trilogy has so far sold 56 regions in 56 languages.
An earlier novel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, was released on May 19, 2020, about the early days of Panam and the Hunger Games.
